Msgr. Charles Pope of the Archdiocese of Washington reflects on the prophetic teaching of Pope Paul VI on how the use of artificial contraceptives would affect us. He neatly organizes a comparison of the promises of contraceptives vs. Paul's concerns and predictions. His writing is worthy of giving some serious thought.

A generation has passed since the publication of the boldly pastoral and prophetic encyclical Humanae Vitae which upheld the ancient ban on the use of artificial contraception. Perhaps no teaching of the Church causes the worldly to scoff more than our teaching against artificial contraception.
